Five people died, while hundreds of buildings were destroyed and countless animals killed. Fast-paced fires torched vast swathes of land and people were forced to evacuate as thousands of animals perished. It comes as Australia is the latest place to be ravaged by wildfires, with ’mega-blaze’ currently running rampant over about 400,000 hectares of land near Sydney. We continued on Glenn Spring Road to the junction with Juniper Canyon Road, it was an uneventful drive over rock and gravel passable with most SUVs.
